"When someone receives a document for signature, they should be able to fully review it before committing legally. A signature is not just a button click; it is consent, acceptance, and proof that the signer had a fair opportunity to review the document. Blocking downloads before signing creates friction, distrust, and real business problems.
Many modern e-sign platforms already support some form of document access, download, or post-sign document retrieval. For example, Dropbox Sign’s signing experience specifically says a signer can download an original copy of the document from the signer page before completing the signing flow. Docusign’s support center also treats “Print and Save” and “download documents” as standard signer-support topics, which shows this is a normal expectation in the e-sign industry."
