Capability transparency — editing is advertised but silently refused or fails
R
Real Maroon Toad
The system indicated editing capability but then refused to execute without surfacing a clear reason. When a document has a constraint that prevents editing — such as flattened objects requiring OCR first — that limitation should be communicated proactively and specifically, not encountered as a silent failure. Users lose trust when the gap between advertised and actual capability is unexplained.
Expected outcome: greater user trust, reduced frustration.
